ISLANDIA (April 23, 2012) – Long Island Business News presented its annual Pay It Forward Philanthropy Award to Long Island Home Builders Care Development Corp. for its “Building New Homes for Returning Veterans” program.

LIHBCDC, the charitable arm of the Long Island Builders Institute, and this year’s other real estate award winners were honored at an April 23 dinner at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.

LIHBCDC, which previously constructed two low-cost homes through its “Building New Homes for Returning Veterans” program, is about to undertake development of a new six-home subdivision to be known as Veterans Way on 3.1 acres of land donated by CA Technologies, which also was honored by the publication. The homes will be sold to veterans who have served during the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan. Other houses are planned for elsewhere on Long Island.

The homes will be sold at prices substantially below the market prices for new houses to qualified veterans who have applied for the program. A panel of Veterans of Foreign War post commanders will select the veterans.

LIHBCDC plans to break ground for the homes on May 23 at 11 a.m.

“It’s wonderful for our organization to be recognized with this award, which was made possible by the generosity of CA Technologies and the members of the Long Island Builders Institute,” said LIHBCDC president Tom Datre. “Our mission to build new homes for returning veterans can only be accomplished with community support. To complete this task and allow us to continue to improve the lives of returning veterans and their families requires the generosity of businesses and individuals on Long Island.”

To participate in the program, military veterans need to write a letter detailing military service history, present living status, employment status and why this program would change his or her life. Letters should be sent to Lois Fricke, director of development of LIHBCDC, 1757-58 Veterans Memorial Hwy, Islandia, N.Y. 11749. Applications for the Veterans Way subdivision must be received by May 16, 2013. Veterans also may be eligible for additional homes that will be constructed on Long Island in the future.

For more information on the program contact Fricke at 631-232-2345 or lois@lihbc.org. Any one wishing to donate to the program should contact Fricke or go to www.lihbc.com. All donations are tax deductible.

ISLANDIA

New homes available

For war veterans

The charitable arm of the Long Island Builders Institute is seeking Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans to apply for the chance to own one of six new below-market-rate homes in Islandia. Long Island Home Builders Care Development Corp. plans to construct a subdivision of six affordable homes called “Veterans Way,” an effort that has built homes in Lake Ronkonkoma and Sound Beach. The three-bedroom homes, which would be built on a 3.5-acre donated parcel on a cul-de-sac, would cost from $172,000 to $199,000, said Lois Fricke, director of the development corporation. The group has received 15 applications, which are due May 16. Applicants should write a letter to the development corporation detailing military service and why the home would be life-changing, Fricke said. A panel of Veterans of Foreign War post commanders will select the winners, who must be able to qualify for a federal Veterans Affairs loan to purchase the home.“This is an opportunity where they can have a new home, in a great school district, right near the expressway,” said Fricke, who said the homes will be in the Hauppauge School District. Tom Datre, president of the development corporation, said in a statement, “One of the many hurdles facing returning veterans is finding an affordable place to live and anchor their lives. We hope our program can help fulfill this need.” Letters should be sent to Lois Fricke, 1757-58 Veterans Memorial Highway, Islandia,

ISLANDIA, NY, April 5. 2013 – Long Island Home Builders Care Development Corp. (LIHBCDC), a charitable arm of the Long Island Builders Institute, said it has received approval to build six homes for returning veterans on land in Islandia donated by CA.

The Village of Islandia has approved a subdivision for the 3.1 acres of vacant land. The sub-division, to be known as Veteran’s Way, is to be constructed by LIHBCDC under its “Building New Homes for Returning Veterans” program, which has already built homes in Sound Beach and Ronkonkoma.

The not-for-profit development corporation now plans to select six homebuilding firms who are members of the Long Island Builders Institute to oversee the construction of each home. Materials and labor for the homes will be purchased, donated or purchased at substantially reduced prices.

It is our hope that businesses and individuals on Long Island will help to make the American dream come true for these veterans who put their lives on the line for us.”

In addition, New Homes for Returning Veterans plans to construct additional homes in Centereach and in the town of Islip.

Long Island Home Builders Care Development Corp. to Construct Six New Homes for Soldiers Returning From Iraq and Afghanistan

ISLANDIA, NY, February 28, 2013 – CA Technologies (NASDAQ: CA) today announced the donation of 3.1 acres of land to the Long Island Home Builders Care Development Corp. (LIHBCDC) to support efforts in building and providing new homes for returning veterans.

LIHBCDC is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit charitable arm of the Long Island Builders Institute (LIBI). Through the donation of land and dollars, and the donation or reduced charges of materials and labor, homes are awarded for purchase at a substantially reduced price to veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan who have applied and have been selected by a panel of VFW commanders. This program is made possible through the joint efforts of Suffolk County, private donors, local municipalities and members of LIBI through LIHBCDC’s “Building New Homes for Returning Veterans” program.

“CA Technologies has a long history of giving back to the communities where our employees live and work,” said Chuck Quinn, vice president, Real Estate, CA Technologies. “We are proud to support the efforts of LIHBCDC in providing affordable housing to veterans who gave their service to ensure the safety and security of our country.”

To participate in the program, military veterans need to write a letter detailing military service history, present living status, employment status and why this program would change his or her life. For more information contact Lois Fricke with LIHBCDC at 631-232-2345 or lois@lihbc.org

“LIHBCDC is extremely grateful to CA Technologies for this generous land donation,” said Tom Datre, President, LIHBCDC. “Our mission to build new homes for returning veterans can only be accomplished with the support of the community. This donation is a continuation in helping us to improve the lives of returning veterans and their families.”
